Harmonicdog · MultiTrack
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the MultiTrack app for iPhone and iPad handles, what reaches us, and the choices and rights you have. It also covers the Audio Unit extensions that come with MultiTrack. MultiTrack is made by Hamilton Feltman, doing business as Harmonicdog (“Harmonicdog”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
The short version
- Your music stays yours. Recordings, songs and settings live on your device, or in your own iCloud Drive if you use it. We can’t see them.
- No accounts, third-party ads or tracking. MultiTrack has no sign-in, and it doesn’t use any analytics, advertising or crash-reporting service.
- We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
- MultiTrack contacts our website for three things only: help pages, checking for updates, and news about our other apps. Those requests say nothing about you beyond what any web request does, and our server deletes its logs of them after 14 days.
- Apple handles purchases. We never see your name, Apple Account or payment details.
- If you email us, we use what you send only to help you.
1.What stays on your device
MultiTrack is built to work entirely on your device. None of the following leaves it unless you send it somewhere yourself.
- Audio and the microphone. MultiTrack uses the microphone, or any other audio input, only to record and monitor, including for audio plug-ins you add. Audio is processed on your device and saved only where you save it.
- Your music library. With your permission, MultiTrack reads the songs you choose to import from your music library. The import happens on your device.
- Songs and files. Songs, recordings, MIDI and mixes are stored in MultiTrack’s folder on your device, where you can also reach them in the Files app. If you keep them in iCloud Drive, Apple stores and syncs them in your iCloud account under Apple’s privacy policy. We have no access to your iCloud account.
- Settings and app state. Your preferences, your upgrades, and which update notices and app news you’ve already seen are kept on your device. A few of these values, such as the number of tracks you’ve unlocked, are kept in your device’s keychain so they survive a reinstall. None of it is sent to us.
- Your purchase history. MultiTrack reads your MultiTrack purchases from the App Store, on your device, to confirm what you’ve bought and to credit earlier purchases toward an upgrade. The results aren’t sent to us.
2.Features that use your local network
Your device asks for your permission before MultiTrack uses your local network. These features send data directly between your devices, and none of it passes through us.
- Wi-Fi transfer. When you turn it on, MultiTrack runs a small web server so that a computer on the same network can browse, download and upload your songs. While it’s running, anyone on that network who knows its address can reach your songs, and the connection isn’t encrypted. Use it only on networks you trust, and turn it off when you’re done.
- Ableton Link. Link shares tempo, beat position and start/stop with other Link-enabled apps on your network. They see MultiTrack as “MultiTrack DAW”.
- MIDI. MIDI devices and network MIDI sessions that you connect exchange MIDI data directly with your device.
3.Information we receive
3.1 When MultiTrack contacts our website
MultiTrack connects to harmonicdog.com for three things:
- Help. When you open Help, MultiTrack downloads the current help pages in your language. It also has a copy built in, so Help works offline.
- Update check. When MultiTrack starts, it asks Apple’s App Store whether a newer version is available. If one is, MultiTrack also downloads a small file from our website that tells it whether to let you know.
- News about our other apps. From time to time, MultiTrack downloads a short list of Harmonicdog apps, with pictures, to show you. What you’ve seen or tapped is recorded only on your device. If you tap “Don’t show again”, MultiTrack stops checking.
None of these requests includes an identifier, an account, or anything about your songs. Like any web server, ours keeps an access log of every request it receives, whether it comes from MultiTrack or from your browser. The log records your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested (a help page’s address shows your language), and the technical details your device sends with the request. For MultiTrack, those details are the app’s name and build number and your operating system version.
We use these logs only to run our website, keep it secure and fix problems. We don’t use them to identify you or combine them with anything else, and our server deletes them automatically after 14 days. Neither MultiTrack’s requests nor our website use cookies.
3.2 When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if your email includes it, your message, and anything you attach, such as a song, a recording or a screenshot. We use it only to answer you and to fix the problems you report.
3.3 Purchases and subscriptions
Apple sells and processes MultiTrack’s upgrades, subscriptions and free trials through the App Store, under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. Apple doesn’t give us your name, email address, Apple Account or payment details. We receive only sales and subscription reports from Apple that don’t identify you, such as how many of each upgrade were sold in each country.
3.4 Crash reports and diagnostics from Apple
If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers, Apple sends us crash reports and diagnostics when MultiTrack has a problem, and gives us aggregate usage statistics. Apple doesn’t identify you in them, and we use them only to find and fix bugs. You can turn this on or off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers.
3.5 Beta testing
If you test a beta version of MultiTrack through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple shares with us what TestFlight provides to developers. That can include your name and email address, your device and the build you’re using, and any feedback, screenshots and crash reports you send. We use it only to improve MultiTrack.
3.6 What we don’t collect
We don’t collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifier, or browsing history. MultiTrack doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps and websites, and it contains no code that lets anyone else do so.
4.How we use information, and our legal bases
We use personal information only for the purposes below. Each purpose also shows the legal basis that laws such as the GDPR ask us to name.
| Purpose | Information used | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Delivering help pages, update notices and news about our apps | Server access logs | Legitimate interests: providing the features you use, and telling you about our other apps, which you can switch off |
| Keeping our website secure and working, and preventing abuse | Server access logs | Legitimate interests: security and reliability |
| Answering your questions and fixing the problems you report | Your emails and attachments | Performance of our contract with you, and legitimate interests in supporting our customers |
| Finding and fixing crashes and bugs | Crash reports and diagnostics from Apple and TestFlight | Legitimate interests: making MultiTrack reliable |
| Meeting legal obligations, and establishing or defending legal claims | Any of the above, as needed | Legal obligation, and legitimate interests in protecting our rights |
We don’t use your information for advertising or profiling, and we don’t make decisions about you by solely automated means.
5.Who we share it with
- Service providers who process it for us. Our web host, Akamai Technologies (Linode), runs our server in the United States. Apple hosts our email in iCloud Mail. They handle the information only to provide those services.
- Apple, as the platform MultiTrack runs on and the seller of its in-app purchases, as described in section 3. Apple’s own privacy policy governs what Apple does.
- Authorities or others, when the law requires it, or when it’s necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public, or Harmonicdog.
- A successor. If Harmonicdog or MultiTrack is sold, merged or otherwise transferred, the information may go with it, and we’ll require the new owner to honor this policy for information collected under it.
- Anyone else only with your permission.
We don’t sell personal information. We don’t share it with anyone for advertising, including “cross-context behavioral advertising” as California law defines it.
6.Other apps and services you choose
- Audio Unit plug-ins and other music apps. Plug-ins you load run inside your MultiTrack session and receive the audio and MIDI you route to them. Other developers make them, and those developers’ privacy policies apply.
- Sharing and exporting. When you share or export a song, for example with AirDrop, Mail, the Files app or another app, it goes where you choose, under that service’s policies.
- Links. Links in MultiTrack, such as the one to Apple’s Terms of Use, open websites that have their own privacy practices.
7.Where your information is processed
Harmonicdog is based in the United States, and our website’s server is there too. Our email provider, Apple, is a US company. If you live elsewhere, the information described in section 3 is processed in the United States, where data-protection law may differ from yours. We apply this policy to it wherever you are.
8.How long we keep it
- Server access logs: 14 days. Our server then deletes them automatically.
- Emails with us: for as long as we need them to help you, and then up to three years after our last message, so that we can help if the problem comes back. We delete files you send us, such as songs and recordings, once your issue is resolved. You can ask us to delete any of it sooner.
- Crash reports and diagnostics from Apple: for as long as Apple keeps them available in its developer tools.
- Everything on your device: until you delete it or delete MultiTrack. Songs in iCloud Drive stay there until you delete them. The few values kept in your device’s keychain (section 1) can remain on your device after MultiTrack is deleted.
We may keep information longer if the law requires it, or to resolve a dispute.
9.Security
We protect the information we hold with reasonable technical and organizational measures. MultiTrack’s connections to our website are encrypted with HTTPS. Access to our server and our mailbox is limited to Harmonicdog. We keep as little information as we can, for as short a time as we can.
No system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we’ll notify you and the authorities where the law requires it. Wi-Fi transfer has its own precautions, described in section 2.
10.Children
MultiTrack is a general-audience music app. It’s rated 4+ on the App Store, but it isn’t directed at children. The app doesn’t ask anyone for personal information, so a child can use it without providing any.
We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the minimum age that your country’s law sets. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example in an email, contact us and we’ll delete it.
11.Your choices
- Use MultiTrack offline. Without an internet connection, MultiTrack simply skips the help refresh, the update check and app news. Purchases need a connection.
- Stop news about our apps. Tap “Don’t show again”.
- Stop crash reports from Apple. See section 3.4.
- Permissions. You can turn access to the microphone, your music library (Media & Apple Music) and your local network on or off at any time in Settings › MultiTrack. Features that need a permission won’t work without it.
- Delete your data. Delete songs in MultiTrack, or delete the app. Remove songs from iCloud Drive there. To delete our emails with you, write to us.
12.Your rights, and how to use them
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know whether we hold personal information about you, and get a copy of it;
- have it corrected;
- have it deleted;
- receive it in a portable format;
- object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it;
- withdraw consent, where we rely on it;
- opt out of the sale of your personal information, its sharing for advertising, and profiling (we do none of these); and
- not be treated differently for using any of these rights.
To make a request, email support@harmonicdog.com with “Privacy request” in the subject. It’s free. We’ll confirm we’ve received it within 10 business days, and respond within 30 days, or sooner if your local law requires it. If we need more time, as some laws allow, we’ll tell you why. You can ask someone else to make a request for you, and we may ask for proof that you authorized it.
What we can find. MultiTrack doesn’t give you an account or an identifier. Usually, the only information we can link to you is our email correspondence with you, so we’ll reply only to the address you wrote from. Server logs aren’t linked to anyone. If you tell us your IP address and roughly when you used MultiTrack, we’ll look for matching entries before they’re deleted after 14 days.
13.Region-specific information
13.1 European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland
Under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, the controller of your personal information is Hamilton Feltman, doing business as Harmonicdog. You can reach us at support@harmonicdog.com.
- Legal bases. Section 4 lists them. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed them against your rights, and you can ask us for details.
- Your rights. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection. Your right to object to direct marketing is absolute: tap “Don’t show again” to stop news about our apps at any time.
- No obligation. You don’t have to give us any personal information to use MultiTrack. If you email us, we need your email address to reply.
- Complaints. You can complain to a data protection authority, especially in the country where you live or work. In the EEA, see the list of authorities. In the UK, contact the Information Commissioner’s Office, and in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. We’d appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
- Processing outside Europe. Your information is processed in the United States (section 7).
13.2 United States
Several US states give their residents privacy rights, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia. Some of these laws may not apply to a business of our size, but we honor the rights in section 12 for everyone in the United States.
California
This section is our notice at collection and privacy policy under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA). In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information:
| Category | What it is | Source | Purpose | Disclosed for a business purpose to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | IP address; your email address, if you email us | Your device; you | Running and securing our website; answering you | Our web host; our email provider |
| Personal information described in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e) | Your name, if your email includes it | You | Answering you | Our email provider |
| Internet or other electronic network activity | Access log entries: the page or file requested, the date and time, app and system details | Your device | Running and securing our website | Our web host |
| Audio, electronic, visual or similar information | Songs, recordings or screenshots you send us | You | Fixing the problems you report | Our email provider |
Section 8 gives how long we keep each category. We don’t collect sensitive personal information. We haven’t sold personal information or shared it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16.
As a California resident, you have the right to:
- know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you;
- have it deleted or corrected;
- opt out of its sale or sharing, and limit our use of sensitive personal information (we do none of these); and
- not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Section 12 explains how to use these rights. An authorized agent may make a request for you.
Shine the Light. We don’t disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We don’t track you over time or across third-party websites or apps, and we don’t let anyone else collect information about your online activities through MultiTrack or our website. Because there is no tracking to stop, a Do Not Track signal doesn’t change what we do. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of sale and sharing, although we do neither.
Appeals
If we decline to act on your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with “Appeal” in the subject line. We’ll respond within 45 days and explain the outcome. If you’re not satisfied, you can contact your state’s Attorney General.
Nevada
We don’t sell covered information as Nevada law defines it. You can still ask us not to, and we’ll honor your request.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and with New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020. Sections 3 to 8 describe the kinds of personal information we collect, how we collect and hold it, and why.
- Anonymity. You can use MultiTrack without identifying yourself. You can also write to us under a pseudonym, although we need a working email address to reply.

13.5 Japan
We handle personal information in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI).

13.7 Everywhere else
Wherever you live, you can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. We’ll respond as your local law requires, and we’ll try to honor your request even where the law doesn’t require it.
14.Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your personal information, we’ll also tell you in MultiTrack’s release notes or in the app before the change takes effect. Where the law requires your consent to a change, we’ll ask for it.
